My mini break to Abu Dhabi
Tuesday, July 20, 2010
Oh hai there.
Here's my hot new look. Like it? ;) Heh heh. And yep, that is me behind the veil! I loved wearing it soo much, that even in the 45 celcius heat, I wore it for a couple of hours.
Anyways,
If you follow me on twitter, you'd know that I went to to Abu Dhabi last week for a grand total of 4 days. I know, I know, that may come across as quite bizarre, going to a country that's around 8 hours away and for only a couple of days, but sometimes it's good to just get away, especially abroad, even if it is for a few days. ;)
As soon as I got there I hit the mall. Yep, that's right a mall. Not a shopping centre as us Brits call it.
I popped into Marina Mall. It was massive and wait for it..
Zomg! My beloved Topshop! I could not believe my eyes!
They also had loads of Abaya shops. I thought this one was pretty unique.
In the distance you can see the Emirates Palace hotel. It is huuuuuge!
And there were plenty of tall buildings..
Everywhere!
And at times it felt like a construction site. But nonetheless..
It was amazing.
You'll see a lot of date trees about. Mmmmm... Dates. Numnumnum.
I loved the beach. Can you tell? This is the first time I've been to a beach! (Not including Blackpool beach, eww)
A view of downtown..
I couldn't believe I was seeing this. A helicopter with a banner advertising tickets for the F1 race in November. :O
We saw some unamused camels.
Did a bit of dune bashing in a 4x4. Scary, but gave such a rush! Was particularly worrying when the car tilted onto it's side like it was about to topple over! It was all part of the experience. :)
A group of people I went dune bashing with. Mainly consisted of ozzies and americans :)
The food was delicious! Goats cheese and salad with a light balsamic dressing. Yummy!
Crepes! With milk chocolate dip and whipped cream.
Ahhh, Abu Dhabi. I miss it. The sun, the sand, the service, all of it really. I am seriously considering finding a job there. the heat really didn't bother me. I'm one of those people that prefers extreme heat over coldness.
Until next time..
