About a week ago, I was scrolling through my Instagram timeline when I noticed an unusual photo pop up from Illamasqua. It turned out they'd actually posted a couple of similar makeup looks using a product they were about to launch, and I loved them! They were both glossy, but at the same time a bit warped and distorted. They really stood out because they weren't the typical structured look you tend to see on Instagram.

Obviously such a look garnered a mixed response, some people hated, others loved. I found myself in the latter camp. The effect looked different, and that's what makeup is all about for me. Creating something a little different, a little edgy.

I love a bit of nail art me, it doesn't have to be complicated or technically difficult to achieve in order to look great either. I'm definitely a sponging kinda gal when it comes to nail art, I'm becoming quite the expert now when it comes to the Ombre and Galaxy nail looks, after plenty of practice, no less.

Aaaaand the glittery eye makeup looks continue! 

Earlier in the week, I was motion around TK Maxx, waiting for a friend to turn up for lunch. As per usual, I ended up in the homeware section (I mean, where else?) and within this section they have a little space given over to arts and crafts. It was here that I spotted the ultimate glitter set, and like the magpie that I am, I ended up making a swift purchase before lunch. In my defence though, I'd nabbed 24 pots of glitter for just £12.99. WOWOWOW!

Aren't you all in for a treat?! I think this is actually the first time I've ever blogged about lip art! I've posted up a couple of looks on Instagram before, but never really devoted a whole blog post to them. No time like the present, though!

But why now, after all this time? Well, speaking plainly, I've been totally digging the lip art for the past couple of months. For starters it can be seriously quick to do (depending on how complex you want to get) and secondly it's such a great outlet.

 

Aloha! As you may well know, I went on a mammoth Lime Crime haul last week. They had a crazy bundle offer on the relative new Perlees, so I thought it'd just be plain rude of me not to. The Perlees are bullet lipsticks with a finish described as a 'Matte Pearl' by Lime Crime. Obviously this intrigued me, and at a massively reduced price, I thought 'why not?' A couple (and then some) went in to the basket, along with numerous Velvetines.

It was at my work's Christmas do, when I spotted that one of my colleagues was wearing the most gorgeous pair of shoes. They were the Incense Melissa Cat heels: a simple black court style shoe with outrageously high heels and metal cat ears - simply divine!

After bowing down to her superior ability to walk in heels of such towering height, and being genuinely captivated by them, she started telling me about her vast collection of weird and wonderful shoes. I'm thinking that I'll have to pay her wardrobe a visit and cry over such a gathering of unique footwear.

 

Do you remember the Boxing Day Sales? I know it feels like the entire run up to Christmas and New Year and even beyond into the new year is one huge, elongated sale period, but the Boxing Day sale does exist still within this mish-mash of money off bonanzas. 

 

Kat Von D is an absolute babe. I don't even like using the word babe, but I save it for special people - and she is most certainly deserving of that label!

One of her signature looks is of course the Two Toned Eyes - if you give that a quick Google, you'll pretty quickly see (amongst the countless imitations) a lot of photos of her with blue eyeshadow on one eye and yellow on the other. It's so simple, yet so, so beautiful.
