The Original Coat

The Original, in Tokyo.

This coat. By god. Everybody loves this coat. This beautiful, oversized lilac coat. I love this coat, you love this coat, the random passers-by on the street love this coat and maybe even god himself loves this coat. No. Maybe god himself created this coat, just for me. Not only does this coat keep you warm(ish) during these foul winter months, it also makes you look fucking fabulous too.

So yep, there it is. God himself fashioned this coat, from the wool of the finest little sheep leaping around the gardens of eden, eating apples (at least the ones they're allowed to) and having fun, he took the pigments from the most beautiful lavender going and put it all together to make this coat.  For me. Well perhaps not. But I think we're in agreement that this is a special coat.

Me and this coat have history too. I bought it back in 2015 from the Missguided sale, and to be honest, I hated it. I wondered why I'd even bought it. It just didn't feel right, but it grew on me, and I came to love this coat. But there's something you ought to know, a confession if you will. The coat I'm wearing with the candy floss, is not the same coat that I'm wearing down below.

No, I don't have two of the same. That wouldn't be so bad. What actually happened is I ran out of space in my suitcase whilst in Japan. I needed to fit in as many beauty products as I could, so I took the difficult decision to leave the coat behind. Yep, I left it in my Airbnb in Tokyo, without so much as a tear. I thought I wouldn't miss it. But then I got back to the UK, and looked back at the photos of me and my wonderful lilac coat, and I missed it so. I started to wonder where that coat is now, whether it's wandering around the streets of Tokyo, living it up.

So I bought another one, from depop. And the rest is history.

  2. It's always the case that as soon as you give something away or sell it, you start to miss it! Well that's what usually happens to me hence why I'm such a clothes hoarder. But you're right - I really do love this coat (especially because of the kangaroo pouch for kitties).

  5. Hahah this is such a brilliant post. And ode to Lima's coat! It's happened to me so many times that I thought I've grown out of things and sold them or just gave them to the charity and then I was like I WANT IT BACK. The worst ones are the ones that you can't actually get back once you start missing them! Viva to Lima's coat:) x
